Records, cds and more records and cds...

Writing the first post in 2009 I would like to remember that people make plans and take decisions. In my case regardless to what may happen in my private life I'm always open to listen to new sounds and keep on listening the same ones I've been doing for quite a long time.Jazz, 60's rock and Brazilian music are in my plans as wel as discovering other artists play an important role in this whole new period.Something we ask ourselves, among collectors is: 'Have you really got plenty of time to listen to your whole collection ??'.Well, a doubtful answer is given, but in fact I've decided on changing this scenery in my life: listening to, at least, one cd from my private collection is a 'must'.So, wish me luck...

When we hear the term "Bossa Nova" we imagine Tom Jobim.Well, at least this is one great reference fans have. But  Bossa Nova wasn´t made, at all, of Jobim and his great songs, not to say the least.Artists like Eumir Deodato, Nara Leão, Marcos Valle, Roberto Menescal, Johnny Alf, João Donato, Carlos Lyra, Dick Farney, João Gilberto, Baden Powell, Lúcio Alves and Jobim's most important partner - Vinicius de Morais - are in a cd collection published by a newspaper from Sao Paulo, since August.Composers, singers, musicians and poets left their remarkable influence in Brazilian music. The repertoire includes famous songs and biographies that help listeners enhance their knowledge. In a country with little consideration for their stars that's what I call a milestone !!

13th-Oct-2008 10:28 pm - New bands from the 60's for me
In this great research concerning North-American and English 60's bands I've been doing, I came across some nice ones like "Spirit", "Flying Burrito Brothers", "King Crimson", "Moody Blues" and many others. Many groups have been more or less valued by the media and listeners, and consequently have left their legacy of good music and talent.Influences like fusion, psychedelia, rock and latin music can be seen in this period. In the same way jazz was found 20 years ago when I first listened to Billie Holliday's and Duke Ellington's records, the great bands of the past have come up  through hard research and interest. As a Brazilian I'll be posting some of our most outstanding artists as well. Music in this blog will be uncovered in its all genres and styles. I hope you'll enjoy it...

Some of the great 60's artists in music ever:

23rd-Aug-2008 09:42 pm - Writer's Block: Music and Mood

Music has always played an important role in my life.In my childhood I used to listen to my mom's records (the songs of Rita Lee, a well-known female rock singer in my country) and soon after that my own ones by Queen, Brit pop bands from the 80's, Brazilian bands among others.Today I'm a researcher and music has become variable in genres and styles in my cd player or record player.I try to listen to many kinds of rock bands, oldies or Brazilian music (which I've been redescovering). My mood, basically, is the same when I'm listening to music.I can say that music really affected me in my teenage, that's what I felt that time.Today I'm a spectator, a kind of amateur critic...

Starting a new blog in my life is not easy, provided that ideas, sometimes, are hard to develop.I would like to use this blog for music research, finding new friends, giving my personal point of view on some subjects, it is, expressing myself.
Everyone is free to comment all they want as well as using this space for a democratic right of viewpoint.
